Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 19, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information The System Design (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects when you visit https://thesystemdesign.in (the “Site”), how we use it, and the choices you have. The Site is run by Gowtham. If you have a question about this policy, please reach us through our Contact page.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Contact form: your name, email address, subject and message when you write to us.
  • Newsletter: your email address (and name, if you choose to give it) when you subscribe.
  • Comments: the name, email address and website you enter, the comment itself, and your IP address and browser user agent string, which help us detect spam.

Information collected automatically

  • Log data: like most websites, our hosting provider records your IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, pages visited and the date and time of each request.
  • Analytics data: we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site, such as which pages are read, how long visits last and roughly where visitors come from. This data is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: described in the next section.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. We use:

  • Essential cookies that keep the Site working, for example to remember the details you entered in a comment form.
  • Analytics cookies set by Google Analytics to measure visits and usage.
  • Advertising cookies set by Google and its partners to show and measure ads (see below).

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you do, some parts of the Site may not work as intended.

Advertising and Google AdSense

We use, or may use, Google AdSense to show ads on the Site. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we will ask for your consent before personalised ads or non-essential cookies are used, as required by law.

How we use your information

  • To reply to messages you send us.
  • To send the newsletter you signed up for. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
  • To publish and moderate comments.
  • To understand which content is useful and improve the Site.
  • To show advertising that helps keep the Site free.
  • To protect the Site against spam, abuse and security threats, and to meet legal obligations.

Third-party services

We rely on trusted providers to run the Site. They process data on our behalf or under their own privacy policies:

  • Hostinger – web hosting and server logs.
  • Google Analytics and Google AdSense – analytics and advertising (Google Privacy Policy).
  • Mailchimp (Intuit) – newsletter delivery (Mailchimp Privacy Policy).
  • Gravatar (Automattic) – an anonymised string created from your email address may be sent to Gravatar to show your profile picture next to a comment.
  • Embedded content – posts may include embedded videos or other content (for example from YouTube). Embedded content behaves as if you visited the other website directly, and that website may collect data about you.

Sharing your information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with the service providers listed above so they can do their job, when required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of the Site and its users.

How long we keep data

  • Comments and their metadata are kept until the comment is deleted.
  • Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to answer you and follow up.
  • Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe.
  • Analytics data is kept according to the retention settings of Google Analytics.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR (EU/UK), the CCPA/CPRA (California) and India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate data;
  • ask us to delete your data;
  • withdraw consent you have given, such as for the newsletter;
  • object to or restrict certain processing; and
  • complain to your local data protection authority.

To use any of these rights, contact us through the Contact page. We will reply within a reasonable time and as required by law.

Children’s privacy

The Site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has given us personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International transfers

Our service providers may process data in countries other than your own, including India, the United States and countries in the European Union. Where required, these transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top shows when it was last changed. Significant changes will be highlighted on the Site.
